 | The Virtualization Competence Center for SAP has published a whitepaper which summarizes the current (August 2008) support statements by SAP, Database, and Operating System vendors. Furthermore, it offers solutions for ensuring that a customer has full support despite support limitations of the vendors.
Oracle’s announcement in the SAP note 1173954 not to support any of its products on virtualized environments has led to confusion among SAP customers. The Virtualization Competence Center for SAP has published a whitepaper, which summarizes the current (August 2008) support statements by SAP, Database, and Operating System vendors.
The document focuses on virtualization with VMware. A similar situation occurs for XEN. Microsoft’s Hyper V is currently not supported by SAP. The document is targeted to customers currently realizing a virtualization project or planning to do so in the near future.
